Help, my 1 year old climbed out of playpen banged head and won't stop - 10points!?
My son turned 1 on Xmas eve and today he climbed out of his play pen which is actually deeper and i would have thought harder to climb out of because its netting (the winnie the pooh one from argos) He climbed up the inside corner and threw himself over, somersaulted and landed on his bum, back and then head. He didn't cry, he had a whine because he got a fright, hes been perfectly fine since (this was hours ago) eating, playing, running around, being a right little toddler. We out him back in his pen as hes started to get tired and trying to settle himself to sleep, but the second i put him in it he keeps trying to climb back out the same way he did earlier. I'm guessing this isn't going to stop now that he's figured out how to escape? Does this meen that the pen is no longer safe to keep him in? We're about to have our second child (due 21st) and he was to go stay with his nan whilst we got settled in, but if hes climbing out of the pen,its not going to work is it? He's been trying to climb out the cot for some time but his feet slip through the slats so he doesn't quite make it. Does this mean we should take the bars of now and he sleeps in his toddler bed? Really worried about this because hes still at eating everything hands into everything stage.

  My sister ended up having to get one of those teppe nets that attach to a crib. Her son started climbing out at 1...so they tried the toddler bed thing. Well her son climbed up a 6 foot bookshelf and threw everything on the ground, while everyone was sleeping. Thankfully he did not fall off and hurt himself. He was a crazy little monkey, and it was much safer to keep him in his crib then let him have the freedom. So maybe try the toddler bed 1st, and if that doesn't work try the mesh cover. BTW my daughter was in a toddler bed at 17 months...but she is the opposite of her cousin, she would never climb out of her crib or climb everything in site. She just started using the potty at that ageand needed the freedom of being able to use the bathroom if she needed too. Good Luck but it sounds like you have a little monkey too!

  I think I would go ahead and put him in the toddler bed or remove the rails. You know hes got it figured out and its only a matter of time before he conquers the crib...lol...As far as picking up everything and putting it in his mouth I think I would put a gate across his door and childproof his room. That way if he gets out of the bed he will be confined but safe. Or if you need a few minutes to do something you can put him in his room where he will be safe. He will grow out of the putting things in his mouth stage....that climbing will be a part of him so you might as well try to teach him to do it safely. Sounds like a pretty adventurous little guy! Hes curious of the world around him. Just make it as safe as possible for him and let him explore! Be sure all blind cords, drop cords, lamps, etc are not in his reach or removed from his room. You can never be too careful. So yes Mom, give him the toddler bed before he hurts himself. Give him wings and let him soar!

This bed could have been homemade, but the outer edge looked like some sort of white pvc piping and the "bed" part was blue and felt like the material on a trampoline (the bouncy part), but had less give to it.   It sounds like it is homemade, but it is a Murphy bed without the cabinet. Did you know you can buy (on line) a Murphy bed without the cabinet? They sell the basic mechanics of the bed. It mounts to the floor and it can be pushed up when not in use. It's way cheaper and a lot of people make their own type of cabinet to cover it. You can also find them on Craigslist once in a while. I have been looking for a Murphy bed, but because they are so expensive I have decided to buy just the mechanical parts and build a cabinet around it when my husband has time.   It is down to personal choice really, I paid £20 for a white one my friend was getting rid of, then spent £80 on a decent mattress. Never use a second-hand mattress, and always buy the best mattress you can afford for the cot, making sure you get it from a reputable supplier. Older mattresses can contain traces of Antimony which has been linked to Cot Death and some very old cots, particularly those painted white contain lead in the paint. I do mean really quite old though.
  
  Go to a baby shop, Mothercare or whatever and have a look, try some out, make sure that the one you get suits you. Do the sides come down far enough? Are the latches secure? Would it be easy to clean if the baby messes it? Can it expand into a bed therefore saving you money in the long run? Are the bars secure and correctly spaced to avoid arms, legs and heads getting trapped? Do get a good, brand new mattress for it though.
  
  Do not use a duvet until the baby is over 12 months, unless you use a duvet bag that the baby actually wears. Be aware that if you put a cot bumper around the head of the cot, it does increase the temperature slightly and reduce airflow around the cot, though they are useful. Also be aware that after the baby's first month, it does not need any more clothes than an adult, this is particularly true in warm or hot weather, rather than cold where they do need to be insulated.
  
  Always use a nursery thermometer hung near the cot, but not in direct sunlight and use this to test whether the area is warm enough for your baby. It is best to use layers of sheets and blankets that can be added or removed as necessary than one thicker cover which may cause the baby to overheat dangerously.
  
  Always put the baby at the bottom of the cot so they cannot wriggle down under the covers and suffocate, and always put your baby on its back, they do find their own natural sleeping positions though.
  
  If your baby is new-born, consider getting a moses basket, these are great for making the baby feel secure and are ultra portable too, at around six months, they can be placed inside the cot (or earlier if you want) and this gets baby used to sleeping inside the cot as you are about to change their environment. If in doubt, ask your friends who have recently had babies.

  A full size is 15" wider than a twin. The length is the same. The trouble you will have is with the fitted sheet and it will cost more than the twin. You can always order your set, try them and if you are unhappy just return them but it will cost you in shipping.   I have an 18" deep King size mattress... talk about expensive sheets. What I did is I went to a place called Anna's Linnens (we have them here in Texas), if you don't have that you could just try WalMart, and I bought just one set of the deep pocket sheets. That was enough to tide me over, I just took them off washed them and put them back on, in the mean time I would wander thru the bedding departments of stores whenever I got a chance and check the clearence items... I've found 3 different sets of deep pocket sheets all clearenced for .00 or less. You just have to be willing to look.

I have the set that comes with the character bedding, and I know I can use my crib sheets also. But I was wondering if anyone sells regular sets, with both the fitted and flat sheet and pillowcase for toddler beds, like they do for any bigger bed.

Does anyone know where I could find crib bedding and toddler bedding sets that match?
I have a little boy and have a second one coming into my home. I want there bedding to match but don't know where to look for a collection that has a crib set(bumper, sheet, ruffle, comforter) and a toddler bed set(comforter, flat sheet, fitted sheet, and pillowcase) that are the same. I am looking for a transportation theme because the toddler has a racecar bed.

  at babies R us, they sell the crib bedding sets, then they sell the extra sheets, blankets, pillows, wall borders, etc. seprately...the crib and toddler beds are the same size so that will make it easy for you....they also have a lot of transportation sets....

Which is better? For my sons toddler bed...?
My son is 15 months old and hasnt slept in his own bed since he was 9 months old. His bed has been converted into a day bed and is right beside my bed. My plan is to buy a bed set he likes in hopes he will start sleeping all night in his "big boy bed". Here is my problem. Looking at elmo bedding at walmart.com I can buy:

I could buy a combination of elmo things:

My son loves sitting at the little tables because every timeI go to my friends house he sits at their little table. I already have a toddler bed so I really dont need another one. I've been wanting to get a toy box or organizer for a while.

What should I do and why?

He would love anything we do but I dont know which choice.

  Why: your son will more likely do EVERYTHING in his room if you buy things that clash together. If everything does not clash together than more than likely he will think that his room isn't something that he wants to be in. If it's something that he enjoys than it's always worth the money!

I have been looking for a Batman toddler bedset forever and I can't seem to find one! Batman is a popular guy so why is this so hard?! Please give me a heads up if you know of a place that sells it!
